*The above website is general information about WUE, each school has different criteria and some schools
don't offer WUE - PLEASE inquire to the school's financial aid office about if they offer WUE and if they do,
follow their process to apply for this scholarship opportunity.
4. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
*January 1st is when the application opens for the following school year
*For first time applicants, you should apply for your PIN early, so that it is set up by the time the application
opens in January
5. Scholarship databases - search engines that allow you to enter personal information and generate a list
of scholarships that pertain specifically to you - you may have to create a profile, but it is usually free!!

6. Look at financial aid pages for the school you or your student is applying to, there are a lot of scholarships
offered by various schools that are only available to students attending those respective schools
7. When filling out scholarship applications:
*Obtain scholarship application online or from the counselor (applications can be found in the wheel cart
located in the classroom or in the file cabinet located in the counselor's outer office)
*Follow all directions
*Type application - do not hand write applications (unless it is your rough draft)
*Visual appearance means a lot, be neat and to the point
*Proofread all documents (have other people proofread your applications and essays)
*Use a file folder to hold your completed scholarship, unless scholarship directions instruct you not to use
one
